The Northern Territory Designated Area Migration Agreement (DAMA) is an accelerated 482/494 pathway for regional employers. This guide explains who qualifies, what occupations are eligible, and how construction businesses use it.

What is a DAMA?

DAMAs are five-year regional migration agreements between the federal government and state/territory DAMA-approved authorities. They allow regional employers to access 482 (Skills in Demand) and 494 (Skilled Employer Sponsored Regional) visas for occupations that wouldn’t normally be on the federal Skilled Occupation List, with concessions on age, English, salary or experience.

The Northern Territory DAMA covers occupations critical to the regional economy — including roles in construction, hospitality, aged care, construction trades, and primary industry. Concessions typically include:
